Is it possible to remove the finish from a st. croix legend elite blank? I want a black matte finish. Re: removing rod finish

I have my best luck using a paint remover called "Stripeeze." Use a foam brush and dab the jell on 1/2 of the blank section. Wait about an hour and take some gray or green scotchbrite and pull the blank through it, holding it tightly. You'll be amazed how much will come off with not much effort. The stubborn spots may need another application and a bit mor elbow grease. Very easy but do it outside to keep the solvent smell out of the house. Re: removing rod finish

It can be removed, just be carefull to get only the finish off. Re: removing rod finish

You'll need to throughly wash or rinse the stuff off after you get the finish off or otherwise the chemical reaction will keep going. Use "clean" water and a soft neutral soap, like liquid kitchen hand-soap.

Most manufacturers will void the warranty if you change the finish in any way. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
