Sanding blanks

I have a fiberglass / e-glass blank that is gloss black is there anyway to make it a matte finish?

Why not just paint it with matte finish paint?

Very fine steel wool will degloss it, but that's not exactly the same as matte. But it will take the shine off of it.

Try a portion under the handle lightly taking it down to just about the uniform water-break-free prep level and give it a good oogle and see if that looks like what you want. The blank may be a different color (Gray) underneathe
