Hi all
My father has built me a rod dryer from seeing pics off toms, and reading this great forum, we r wondering what sort of motor 2 use, and what would be a good turning speed? We have a sowing machine motor, we were thinking of gearing it down and useing i t?, will it burn out? or cause other problems? We live in australia, so, because of time difference, i will read any replys in the morning, any help here would be greatly appreciated, thanks..

A good dryer speed is in the area of 10 RPM. It will be difficult to get a sewing machine motor to run that slow without overheating. Check out [www.therodworks.com.au] Ross is a great guy and stocks rodbuilding equipment and accessories. You can also do a search here...there is a lot of info on drying motors/equipment. Good luck...

Try a Bar B Q rotisserie motor.
