I was just reading a post about triggers on reel seats. An old post, must be a day old now. There is so much traffic now and if you wait a day to read a post, it might be two screens back, which is good. Back to the reel seats. I moved to Houston during the early 60's and had no idea about what rod to use to fish the salt. One day while fishing at one of the Galveston jetties, the speckled trout were stacked up close to shore. I was having a terrible time casting with my five foot bass rod out to the fish. The guys that were doing the hauling were using Shakespere Wonder Rods in the Gulf Coast Special series. At that time those rods came with a chrome plated trigger reel seat. It was a barrel with a trigger heat stamped on it. I bought one and quickly knocked off the trigger. I put it back on using Marine Tex type epoxy. That trigger has since fallen off again but I still have the rod. Re: Trigger Real Seats

Ellis, are you saying that the trigger helped in making longer casts? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
