I love the spiral wrap. The question is not how, or why, but is there a difference in using two transition guides compared to one? Is it just that one is easier to place or is there a better reason? I live in pacific northwest (Olympia) where it seems that very few people have seen this and when they see the couple I have done with two transition guides, the reaction is priceless. I like that. If you are refering to the "simple spiral" or "bumper wrap" the bumper is not a transition
guide. The only reason it is there is to keep the line off the blank as it travels from top to bottom. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: acid wrap question

There are lots of ways to make a spiral wrap. Nearly all the well known systems work well. I'd also steer you to the Simple Spiral and tell you not to use any transition guides - they're not necessary. The line will naturally go to the bottom of the rod if you'll let it.
Do this - put all your guides up on top of the rod just as if you were going to do a regular guides-on-top baitcaster. Get them spaced properly. When you're satisfied with the spacing, flip all of them, except for the butt guide, to the bottom of the rod. String it up and go fishing. If you don't want the line rubbing the blank where it passes by on one side, then install a "Bumper" guide at 90 degrees and located exactly halfway between the butt and first 180 degree guide. Do not alter your spacing to accomodate the Bumper guide. It is an addition to, not part of the regular spacing. Make the Bumper guide a small, low frame guide type. You want to keep the line very close to the blank as it passes by on one side. .............. Re: acid wrap question

The simple spiral with the bumper guide is the easest and quickest way to do an Acid rod..
I was given a 9' corktaped rod and was asked to re-wrap it into an Acid wrapped rod. All I did was to take off the stripper guide and reposition it to the "bottom" of the rod, flip the rod over and add the bumper guide! Viola! An Acid re-wrap! Hook'em brah!
