Has anyone used MADEIRA rayon thread to wrap guides on a fly rod or any other rod? Were you successful? Re: MADEIRA Thread

I would stay far away from RAYON thread.
Use the search button with "all date" "all authors" and you'll find lots of opinions and results Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: MADEIRA Thread

I have never used the RAYON but the polyneon from Madeira is usable for the guides but you have to pay much closer attention to the packing. I have some pictures of guides done by polyneon in the gallery if you know how to find them.

I don't think either Sulky or Madeira RAYON is suitable for rod work, at least in my hands. I've tried them both and ended up throwing them into the trash.
Nylon and polyester threads are a much better choice, IMO. Especially Sulky metallics and Madeira Polyneon 40 and 60. As has been mentioned before, the Madeira Polyneon threads require CP. Stan Re: MADEIRA Thread

Personally, I would avoid rayon. Like Stan said, stick with the Nylon and Ploy's Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: MADEIRA Thread

I played around with Sulky rayon and it did work, but it was such a pain to work with I won't use anymore. Stuff is just too weak to be of any real value. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
