Andy Dear of Lamar Fishing Products met me at Rockport, Texas for a couple of days of fly fishing. I am very interested in his CTS blanks and he promised to bring one of his rods for me to test cast. I wanted to try a six weight. I started learning to cast using inexpensive rods and as I progress, I would like to own a 6, 8 and 9 wt. top of the line rods. As luck would have it, the wind blew 20-25 mph this past weekend. We cancelled the fishing trips, took the ladies out for a gourmet dinner and spent Sunday morning taking a casting lesson from Andy. We found a place near a boat ramp that was out the wind. Andy quickly pointed out the mistakes that I consistently make on the back cast. We went through several phases and forgot about the 100 foot double hauls that I won't need for catching redfish. He concentrated more on quick accurate 30 to 40 foot casts to imaginary fish. On the Texas Gulfcoast, the winds really die down during July and August and the 6 wt. rods are becoming popular for fishing marshes areas during that time. My next 6 wt. fly rod will be made using a white CTS blank. Re: Thanks Andy Dear

Art,
The name of the blank is the Affinity Plus 9 foot 6 wt. fast action. The color that Andy had was white. This was a two piece rod that I tried. Cheers, Ellis Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
