Thank you Ralph, I'm in the middle of a rod re-wrap repair and I noticed that the butt ferrule was loose. I'll fix it even though my customer did not know about the problem. Re: Ferrule Cement

Chances are, the Rod-Bond adhesion will never fail. Generally speaking, any two parts that are joined together by Rod-Bond are PERMANENTLY wedded together, and "what Rod-Bond hath joined together, no man can put asunder."
So, that also means that if the ferrule ever corrodes so badly that it needs to be replaced, it will be very difficult to get off the old ferrule parts without risking damage to the rod blank. Simple boiling water may not work, and further heating of the ferrule to "crack" the bond may literally cook the rod blank resin to the point of softening, flowing or boiling, and that will ruin the rod blank matrix in that immediate region. Now may be a good time to totally replace the old ferrule with new parts, rather than just securing the old ferrule with some fresh Rod-Bond. Just something to keep in mind. ... A Rod-Bond wedding may last longer than the wedded parts. LOL, ... -Cliff Hall+++ FL-USA Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/20/2006 12:00AM by Cliff Hall. Re: Ferrule Cement

Kinda like J B WELD... I use it on bamboo ferrules... they WILL NOT COME OFF. The temp. at which J B WELD reactivates is 600 degrees,,, at which point, the bamboo is long gone. The only way to remove the ferrule is to chuck it up and cut it off...
If I were you, I'd use some good 2 part epoxy that has a lower heating temp. just in case of future replacement. Just my $0.02 worth. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
