Sorry about the question but i am handicapped and it is hard for me to stand not to mention wading in the river. But i have found out that float tubing is just up my alley. Doe's anyone know anthing about the fish finder called fishin buddy which hooks onto the float tube. Thanks for any help you can give

There are several attachments that allow you to mount nearly any brand or type fish finder to your float tube. Check with Bass Pro and Cabelas.

I used one for years in a canoe and the person that I finally sold it to still uses it. Never had any problems.

I've had one for 10 years at least, used it on my canoe, drift boat, belly boat and now the Buck's South Fork, never had a problem ever with it.

Took 2 of them to Canada several times for use on rented boats. They work well, are light and very portable. Just the ticket for float tube use I would think.

Depending on the mounting situation, you may get a lot of interference or false images from your feet/legs or push fins. The units only stick down in the water a couple feet (from the stern of a small boat). You would have to be able to mount the unit away from your body enough (or deep enough) to keep your feet/fins from getting below the transducer.

These units not only shoot downward giving you a depth, but also to the side and indicates the distance away from you when pointing at a fish..this unit also turns 360 degrees to search for those side finding fish, when the unit reads out a fish at a certain distance it is in the direction the handle is pointing back through the unit. The normal unit is designed to clamp over a vertical gunnel, but as Tom says there may be a specialized attachment for float tubes. One further point soe rod MFG's have come out with float tube specific fly rods, the major difference being they are 9" longer to keep your line higher off the water and make up for the differnece in height above it

I've used the same one (fishing buddy II) since '94. I like the float tube and the boat & canoe holders. Both work well enough. Ralph

Interesting about the float tube and handicap. I have a long term back problem which means that standing for any length of time was becoming increasingly difficult and painful. 2 years ago I got a float tube and have not looked back, fishing is enjoyable once again with the added bonus that I get a good work out for my leg muscles.
