Hi, I just finished my very first rod! its a 7' 6" fly rod, 4 wt, blue blank, blue wraps, and maple reel seat. I cant wait to get it broken in this week on some spawning blue gills;)
Question: How do I add feather inlays? I want to put a grizzly hackle feather on the blank, and on the back of the reel seat. Can I put a feather on a reel seat? Thanks Re: Just finished!

Nick, Your address is hidden. You need to click on MY CONTROL CENTER at the top of the message list and click on EDIT EMAIL SETTINGS and confirm your address so people can email you. I will send you a very good tutorial on feather inlays. Not real difficult to do. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! I just got back from the pond. Get this, I didnt even make a real cast, was just stripping line off the reel in the shallows, and a big bluegill takes my little popper! Then, on my "first cast" (real one that is) I had another! They just kept coming, they fight hard when theyre on theyre beds! A little bluegill, that you woundnt feel on a spinning rod, is quite a fight on a 4 wt. In all I had more than 20 blue gills, 5 bass, and some other sunfish, all in 2 hours of fishing.
Next week we get the canoe down and then we really go fishing! until later :) different strokes for different folks, different flys for different guys! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
