I have an old Sears Solid glass rod that i am turning into a boat rod, what i'm looking for is a rubber butt cap like the one that is on the handle now, (see the Pics). If anyone knows if these are still available or not and who would have them. the rod is from the late forties or early 50's.

Try a hardware store. I have seen those at Ace Hardware.

Those are the old "mushroom" caps...unknown where USA folks could get them ....In Canada, there are several sources. if interested, and UTL (unable to locate) please advise and I'll list the firms that should still deal with these things.
Eeb, eh? has some on right now...possibly more than this listing, I just quickly checked. [tinyurl.com]

Mudhole has got them too. Probably Jan's Netcraft or some of the others as well. Good luck...

Check out Jannsnetcraft on the left, I think they offer a mushroom style/shaped rubber endcap, or something very similar
