You can use size A threads, as the blank diameters aren't that large. It is up to you though, A is finer, so if you have eye problems C or D may be worth trying, especially for simple wraps. Re: size threads for carp rod

Functionally size A is all you ever need. Take an Aftco roller guide and make a 1/2 inch long wrap over each foot, then try to pull the guide out of the wraps. You'll find that it takes over 40# of pressure to do it. And what ends up happening is not wrap failure, but the guide frame itself deforms allowing the guide feet to slide towards each other. My goto tuna stick is spiral wrap with single foot Fuji LBSGs and A thread. Its spooled with 80# line and set up with 25# of drag at strike. I've never had a wrap failure.
