I'm in urgent need of help again. I'm about to make first feather inlay to my rod and some guidance is needed.
Idea is to make to first rod simple grizzly feather inlay like Marko Arhagen has done to his rods here [www.rodbuilding.org] I though to put feather into blank with color preserver and though not to put wrap under. Should i put first one coat of epoxy under feathers of should i lay feathers directly to blank? Or is it best to put feathers to blank with epoxy (I'm using threadmaster) Any help is greatly appreciated. All info i have found were cases with underwrap.... Thanks, Antti Kymäläinen Re: Grizzly feather inlay

Antti
I have put grizzly feather inlays on, (inspired by Marko's work) and I have put them on a bare blank as well as over an epoxy coat. They have worked well for me both ways. I use Permagloss but CP works as well and gives you a bit more time. Stan Stan Grace Helena, MT "Our best is none too good" Re: Grizzly feather inlay

Just do one feather at a time. I use CP. I hit the area with a Scotch pad for adhesion. To help each dry you could hit with a hair dryer. After they are all on and the CP is fully dry add finish
If you use Flex Coat CP thin it just a little to help prevent it turning white. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/30/2006 10:13AM by bill boettcher. Re: Grizzly feather inlay

Mike,
Sounds like that tutorial would be a great add to the library on this site... or maybe meat for an article in RM. Clyde Clyde Thomas Re: Grizzly feather inlay

I agree but it was written by Terry Henson! I just put it together into PDF format for myself and Terry told me to feel free to distribute it to anyone that wanted it. I must have sent hundreds of copies out (no where near as many Thanks or acknowledgments, though) Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!!
