Afternoon all! I just became the proud owner of a new Flex Coat Power Wrapper (Another Birthday Present) and have spent the last hour or so playing with it.

I was wondering if anyone had a few pointers or tricks when it comes to power wrapping. I've already gotten fair at controlling the speed and have found it best to guide the thread on while holding it between my fingers to aid in keeping the wrap tight. Outside of this, about the only thing I have figured out is it's going to be nice when it comes to those long under wraps.

On the foot pedal you will notice that there is a hole there. You can put a screw with a nut on each side. You can now adjust the screw and control the speed of the motor. In other words, the screw will act as a stop to the foot pedal at the speed that you want. Well it is not a Renzeti, but I have used a Flex Coat wrapper for almost 30 years. A couple of years ago I had to replace the motor. Which model did you get? I met Roger Seiders at a now defunct tackle shop (Sporting Goods Inc.) and he talked me into buying one.

wouldnt be without my wrapper now best thing i ever bought Thanks tom for the encoraging words of wisdom in getting one like tom said to me it takes a bit of practice but you will soon find your "niche" with it most of all look forwards to doing 180mm long 30mm diameter blank underwraps in seconds not days

My first wrapper was a Flexcoat...........The only real problem I had with it is making sure the rod is centered well..........Easy to solve....Hold the rod and turn the chuck a couple of turns............I also added a rheostat to better control the foot control..........I still use it ofter as well as my other one...........Just my opinion...........Also you can add a finishing or drying motor easily

John, thanks for the information. The rheostat is a good idea! What rheostat are you using?

Allen, your right about the long under wraps. I use to think my arm, fingers, and wrist were going to give out! Many time I had to stop and do something else before coming back to finish up.
