Hello,
This [www.rodbuilding.org] is a needle point pattern that my Aunt made. I'd really like to replicate it into a butt wrap pattern, but I wouldn't know where to begin, as I am a rookie. I'd sure appreciate any help you could offer. My knowledge only goes as far as basic diamonds and chevrons, so this would be a big step up. Thanks in advance, Steve Re: Help with pattern

Steve; Just lay the needle point pattern out on a graph if it isn't already . Turn it in the direction you want it on the rod. Number across the top (wraps) and down the Left edge (design threads) and either make yourself a left list or if you made the graph large enough (at least 10 squares to the inch) work right from the graph. Basic weaving instructions are in Vol. 5 Issue #4 of RodMaker Magazine or you can find a weaving DVD or Video available from one of the sponsors in the column on the left. I am assuming that you intend to weave this not try to develop a Cross wrap pattern. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/23/2006 09:18PM by Jim Upton. Re: Help with pattern

Steve,
I would advice getting the book Custom Rod Thread Art by Dale P. Clemens and the Visual Wrap software program if you wish to reproduce that needle point into a cross wrap pattern or weave. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Help with pattern

Steve,
This seems to be a straight forward color change pattern. Just lay it out on graph paper and follow the guidelines in the two RMM articles by Jim Upton. The articles will get you on the proper track. Then just practice, practice prqactice..................practice! I'm still in the practice phase. Best luck, Stan Re: Help with pattern

Do want help creating a "weave" of this pattern, or a "cross-wrap"....two different beasts. Re: Help with pattern

Either or Bret,
I'm not sure which method would be easier considering my novice-level skills. Steve Re: Help with pattern
