I recently built a 4wt. for my Son using REC recoil single ft. guides. My Son says it's the best rod he has ever cast. I am getting ready to build a 6 and an 8 wt. for myself. Naturally I would like to duplicate that same quality of casting in these rods as well. Being a novice at this craft I am unsure of what size guides to use. On my sons I went with a #12 stripper and a large loop tip top (advice from a Lefty C. book)and whet ever some chart said inbetween. I think I am sold on the single ft. guides but _I AM __open to segestions.
Thanks for your input Re: What size guides to use?

Match your oversize loop tip top to what ever SF wire guide has the same dia. loop/ring, its usually a size 3 or 4. As for the striper and oither ceramic ringed guides...12, 10, 8, on the butt section, only because I don't like to go down to a SF wire guide just befor the ferrule as this invites line slap so I use 3 ceramic ringed guides on the butt section...If You don't use three creamic ringed guides on the butt section, Use two the a size 6 SF wire, then a 5 (on tip sect), then 4's on out to the tip.
