I just recieved some new flexcoat syringes and noticed they have a oily substance on them inside and out. I figure this is to keep the from sticking but was wandering if this will bother the finish and I should clean them out . First time using them. Thanks Re: flexcoat syringes

I've never found anything on the Flex-Coat syringes that I have gotten.
I would wash them off and rince thoroughly just to be sure. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: flexcoat syringes

It is a lubricant but it will not harm your epoxy in any way. The people at Flex Coat have the maker use a lube that is not harmful to epoxy. Re: flexcoat syringes

The people at flexcoat remove the lubricant put on by the manufacture, because it is a silicone and will cause terrible fish eyes in your epoxy. They then apply the lubricant which you receive which has no effect on the epoxy, but will lubricate the rubber pistons and keep them from sticking to the cylinder. If you remove that lubricant you will find your rubber pistons irretrievabley stuck in the cylinder. Use the syringe exactly as you received it, or get a pair of Trondak syringes which have no rubber piston.
