Stripping guide placement 7' 4wt

I'm building a 7' 4wt flyrod for my petite 15 year old Granddaughter, and am thinking about reducing the butt to stripping guide distance to about 24-26 inches... Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards, Andy

If you would like to go from a "rule of thumb" angle with this, have her hold the rod and "pretend" to strip off line from a reel... let her to this several times, you take note of where her hand starts to go away from the rod... the stripping guide should be about 2" up from that point.. (toward the tip section)

Any questions feel free to email me at: mrparramoure@yahoo.com

I am sure by days end you shall have a lot of ideas with the location of the stripper guide..

Tight lines to all ~ ~

What I did for my wife was gave her an existing rod with a grip the same as the one that was going on her rod and had her fish with it. Then measure out how far she can reach comfortably without extending unnaturally and put the guide there. Worst case scenario if she loses the line and needs to reach out to start stripping you know she will be able to regain a grip on the line without moving the rod much.
