I made a query here about alternative reel seat materials some weeks ago. Also I had a problem to turn insert walls very thin. Both of my question were give great answers and with help of them I was able to turn a perfect reel seat to my oncoming rods. Hence I want to say thanks to all who helped me and especially:
- Joe Humel, who told me to get contact to David Winslow. David sold me very nice acrylic blanks which fitted my project perfectly. Very nice product and fast good service... - Scott Olex, who gave me a great tip how to get reel seat insert walls whin easily by first boring the insert and then placing sanding paper to thinned mandrel and by that way you can increase inner diameter very easily. Handy it was :) - Andy Dear of general help in lathe issues. His DVD is still giving me many very valuable tips... - Tom Kirkman for putting up this tremendous forum... I have uploaded few teaser pictures of this work under construction. Have a look and as allways all comments are appreciated... Thanks fellows :) Antti Kymäläinen Finland Re: Acrylic reel seat (Thanks)

Antti.....I saw your pictures. Very nice work. The acrylic acetate pen blanks make for some very interesting seats, checks and butt caps. Show us more as you progress.

Antii,
Very nice insert.........gotta love this sight. I 'm sure it has been done before but I had never thought of turning my own acrylic winding check to match my insert. So Thanks to you for sharing...what comes around goes around. Amazing what you can pick up on this sight.!! Re: Acrylic reel seat (Thanks)
