I want to pick up a spool of 10lb to put on an ISP843-3 I recently built and was wondering the pros and cons of one vs. the other.

If I was going to use a braid for a spinning rod it would be Power Pro. I'd also back it up with a little mono on the spool first, as braid just spins on the spool sometimes.

I hate Stealth, in teh heavier # test (50 & 65#) it sinks. Not good for me bottom fishing as when I fish with a belly teh line sinks to teh bottom. I prefer Tuf Line XP which is very similar to PP but it retains teh color a little better, and didn' thave teh QC issues PP had in teh past.

Marty....Sufix Performance Braid..IMHO...is at the top of the braid list at the moment.

Try a little 3M Coban wrap for the spool. You can get it or something similar at drug stores. A small amount of the tape will allow you to tie your spectra directly to the spool & not lose any line capacity.

I have used both many times over the last couple of years in the 2 lb dia - 10# strength class and have developed a strong preference for Stealth. PowerPro fades to a white color and becomes so limp that it wind wraps around the guides way to easy and often. Stealth seems to retain its original color better and be a little less limp. They both retain their strength well and are good lines, but I'll be buying Stealth when I need more line.

I use these lines when I do a little crankbaiting, bottom bouncing, jigs in weeds, etc.

Power Pro, the best on the market, my personal favorite and a whole lots of other people. It's one of the best sellers on our site. I get a lot of Stealth converts. But as with everything everyone has their favorites for one reason or another.

Power Pro absolutely no question about it.

I've written several articles concerning superline/spectras and have been using spectra exclusively WAY before it became popular. SuperCast made by Western Filament was the starting place for Innotex (Power Pro-they even shared the same mailing address for a while) 7? years-give or take- ago. In all my testing, I have yet to find a better braided spectra than Power Pro.

I wouldn't use anything else!

Other spectra lines that I have found very usable are:

Stren Braid
FINS Braid

The Stren is a good line but it doesn't quite have the strength that PP has

The FINS is designed to break closer to the actual "Test" rateings, yet it carries diameters comparable to PP and Stren. Meaning, PP and Stren are stronger per diameter than FINS.

So DR, do any of the braided lines maintain their color better than others? I have a real problem with my line turning white after only a few uses. In stained or clear water, it really stands out more than I would like. There is a very noticable difference in hits when we jig walleye with the stuff.

Most lines in the last year are going/have gone to a higher quality dye that does not fade like the older dyes that were being used. Spectra does not take dye well and the dyes and process's are changing to make them better for all the lines.

Power Pro this past year introduced the "New and Improved" Power Pro. This line does not fade to white like thier lines did in the past. Stren waited to introduce their "Super Braid" until the bugs were worked out in the dye process and it also does not fade.

You can take a Sharpie or other permament marker and color your line yourself. I like using the hi-vis yellow color and I take the last 10ft and color it with a green or black sharpie. To make coloring easy, I take a razor blade and slice the sharpies tip in the center. Then just run your line through the slit and coloring is a snap.

All spectra will fade to some degree with use, no spectra on the market today is 100% totally colorfast, but most of the newer higher quality lines mentioned are at about 80% color retention, which is a far cry better than the older lines.

If you're buying Power Pro, look for the box to say "new and improved" if you're wanting your color to stay. There's a lot of the older line still out on the shelves, so choose carefully :)
