Hi guys ,I have quick question for you all.I've built about a dozen or so rods & I've only used flex coat lite.On a few of the rods the blank was painted a lighter coler & when the felxcoat lite was applied over the crosswrap it seemed to have yellowed a bit without being exposed to alot of sunlight .Is this usual & if so I'm thinking of changing brands of epoxy any suggestions. Thanks for all the info here.Mike in PA Re: flexcoat yellowing ???

It is the norm and happens with nearly all the various epoxies on the market. LS Surpreme, ThreadMaster and Diamond II seem to be among the few that don't yellow terribly.
Still, this is mostly a problem only on lighter colored threads and blanks - you wouldn't really notice it much on medium to darker threads. And... UV light expsoure has very little to do with it. .............. Re: flexcoat yellowing ???

All of the above mentioned finishes are good. ThreadMaster however does have some other unique properties not offered by the other two above mentioned finishes. However to be fair, you really need to try them all to see which agrees with your tastes.
One thing to note: ThreadMAster will NOT turn brown in an unmixed state for at least a year or more like so many of the finishes on the market. And when it does start to turn it will only be a very slo very mild change. Many of the hardeners will turn brown...very brown after as little as 1 month on the shelf. Most of the finishes out there do one or two things good, but usually have some drawbacks to offset the good qualities. ThreadMAster was designed to be the "Total Package" with no goofy anomolies to worry about. Andy Dear Lamar Fishing Products Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
