hey all,
i am building my 7th rod for my dad, and he wants a chevron like scott g. in the photos ( its green). i have done several diamond wraps, and i find them to be fairly easy to do, but this darn fading chevron is giving me fits. i have started it 2 times, and have cut it off the rod both times. i want it to be a 4 axis wrap which shouldn't be all that tough, but i am having trouble with my crosses becoming out of alignment with my marks. do you have to wrap this pattern 1 thread at a time dropping and adding 1 thread each time or can i wrap the first pass with all 6 threads then 1 thread, then 5 threads, then 2 etc. any help and tricks of the trade would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

You should be able to wrap with multiple threads. You need to carefully check alignment after the first crossing bands are laid. Take great pains to get those first ones where they need to be. After that, the rest should fall in place.

If you let things get off line initially, you'll have hard time every getting them back in the proper alignment. Start straight, and you'll end straight is the rule here.

Do keep in mind that if you find things moving slightly to one side or the other as you progress, you can use a thumbnail to push one side over a bit. Just keep a check on things after each band is laid down and adjust as needed.
