I accidently put a scratch in my blank while wrapping the guides. It is located 38inches from the tip. I would guess it be about .002 " deep and travels around the diameter for about a 1/4 of a turn in an area at 90 degrees to the spline. Should I leave it be or try to repair? What type of repair can be done? Re: Scratch in new sage xp fly rod

Most likely you scratched the surface finish only. Hopefully.
You can live with it, or try to cover it with a narrow trim band of thread. You can put a thin coat of Permagloss over the area. If you need to color it, tint it as close as you can get it to your rod blank color. ............. Re: Scratch in new sage xp fly rod
