Gold Winding Checks

I'm building a fly rod using gold hardware. I just realized that I don't have a matching winding check to match the gold. I've only got Batson's Shiny Gunsmoke winding checks. Any ideas on some good alternatives?? Thanks!!

P.S. Winding Checks are a pain in the rear because of having to get just the right size. Do you guys have any good suggestions on how I can make my own checks to fit my blanks?? thanks
Andrew

Some builders make them with epoxy

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I look into these sources! I think I remember from a previous posting on this message board that somebody had found a way to make winding checks out of pennies. I'm wondering if they can be made out of wood or hard plastic too. Any ideas??

Anything you desire can be used if you wish. All up to your imagination.
Terry Henson likes to use 24kt gold chain as a winding check.
A rubber "o" ring works, wood, bone, ivory, leather,
If you fit the grip with a nice transition no check is needed at all.

Unless a customer wants one they are only for looks. You can use any thing that you like the color of, can shape to fit. Soft metal ear rings and toe rings work fine. Wrap a few turns of gold metallic thread on. Do a nice guide wrap right up against the fore grip.

Ross
It would be a great idea to put a link to your site or at least name it. Beats the guessing game.
