Did I read where someone wrote that AMTAK IM10 blanks cannot take any solvent-based solution at all? I remember a thread some time ago about what to use when cleaning a blank. I think there was one blank that was found to be damaged when even a mild solvent-based solution was used to wipe it down. I just bought a couple charcoal-matte finish AMTAK blanks and the finish is not like I have seen before so I figured I better check. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/18/2006 12:40AM by Leon Mack. That was the St. Croix SCV. Not sure about the AMTAK. Test on an area that will covered by the reel seat.

I didn't know how else to answer this so..... I took an AmTak IM6 (44 million modulus) matte blank and another A IMB 845 blank (also a matte charcoal finish AmTak blank). I dipped the 701UL (IM6 blank) in straight acetone and wrapped an acetone soaked paper towel around the other one. It stripped the gold letter off the IM6 and obliterated the paper label on the 845 but did nothing to the blank. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
