moss colored eva

I am building a rod for a friend. He came over the other night and picked a deep golden brown Maderia thread for his wraps. This thread is a called "moss". It has a little overtone of green to go with the brown/gold main color. I am looking for a similar eva foam to inlay in the burl, cork handle I plan to put on this rod. Have any of you come across a foam in this color? I have a lot of foam and nothing comes close to matching this thread. I am in the process of marking the edges of some spare foam with various color permanent markers and other paint to see if I can create the color. Then I will seal that with something and see if the color remains true/waterproof !?! That will be a long but educational process. I'd rather just find some foam that matches. Thanks for any help.

Not going to be able to color the foam. What number thread did he pick out?

Steve,
Just thinking off the top of my head, could you make an shallow inlet groove in the grip, and fill it with your thread? Finish it the same as your blank wraps to get the closest match.

Billy.... the color is 1757. Curious as to why foam can't be marked. Thanks Steve

Spencer ... never thought of that. I plan to take an old rod blank and some cork and try it today. Thanks

The ink won't stay on the foam. Try it.

Taht is a tough color to match. I would just use black foam and leave it at that. I think Mike Joyce has doen some work with that particular color, or colors close to. Here are a couple of examples:

What you might want to do, is use that color, but blend it with other colors which are closer to the color of the grips/strips you already have.

Call us. We have 29 colors in EVA foam. None are labeled as "Moss Green", but have Green Marsh Camo, Grass Green, Hunter Green, Light Green and others.

Browns, etc. Something may come close.

Also have colored EVA blocks and strips in 17 colors. We may be able to find you something close to what you are looking for.
