sealing foam

I believe it has been posted that CP will not waterproof what it covers; it simply helps retain the original color. Question ..... if you CP over a foam lamination in a cork ring handle and then cover that with several coats of True Oil, will that seal the foam / waterproof it? I plan to experiment a little in this area. I want to put a little permanent marker straks on some foam that will be in a handle. I would like those streaks to remain and not fade. Any other thoughts on how I can retain this coloring? Thanks

Test, Test, Test. True Oil will change the color in some light colors (powder blue picks up a yellowish cast) I bought one of those 50 packs of assorted craft foam sheets and cut about a inch square off of each color. Apply True Oil to ones side and U-40 Cork Seal to the other. That will give you a good idea of what will happen. Not sure what, if any, effect the CP would have. I would suspect that it wouldn't do much for you.

Mike, my hunch is with you on the effect the CP would probably have. I'm hoping it will maintain the small color marks I make on the edge of the foam. I am in the process of marking some foam and I will test the effect of different sealants on it. What would make this a lot easier is if I could find some thin foam that was a moss green color to match a really nice Maderia Polyneon "Moss" thread I plan to use. I am going to Tiger the wraps and add a couple of single rings of metallic gold thread to each wrap. I will inlay some matching color feathers on the hook keeper wrap and I will checker some green burl, and darker Andy burl with cork on the handle. I would also like to add ( if it looks good ) some brown, black!?! and moss green foam rings. I plan to enjoy the journey and hopefully learn a lot. Thanks
