St.Croix 3 fly rods

Good Afternoon to all! I'm thinking of building myself a new fly rod. I've always been a loyal st.criox user and always will. I'm a little hestitant on the new canteen pearl green color of the scIII. I'm looking to build a 9ft 4wt for crappie and bluegill. I looked at st.croix's finished rods on their web site and they look great. Has anyone built one yet? Any thread color advise would be a help. I know that sometimes colors look a little different in person. Thanks a bunch! Patrick

If you like the thread color of the factory rods the thread colors is posted in the rodbuilding section of the St Croix site. Being green is a natural color, other natural colors of the same shade should work well. Haven't built one recently, but they have been an easy rod to like before. A very easy rod to learn on. St Croix usually isn't a hard company to find a dealer in your area.

I'm building a new canteen green colored SCIII fly rod now, and selected Angler Workshop olive green (number 806), and think it looks great. I also liked the tan colors, but opted for less contrast.
