I'm going to demonstrate my newbieness here by asking a seemingly dumb question.
Is a rod wrapper the same thing as a power wrapper? If so what is the difference and could somebody post some pic's or links to each so I can see the differences. I would appreciate this a lot. Thanks BjR Re: Rod wrapper vs power wrapper

Look on the phot page under "Tools" and you will see a lot of pictures of wrappers and other good stuff.
If you click on the "Library Tab" above there Is an article with directions for building a wood wrapping jig. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/12/2006 01:00PM by Bob Crook. Re: Rod wrapper vs power wrapper

A rod wrapper is just that, a hand wrapping tool.
A power wrapper is a wrapper but with a motor for faster wrapping . Re: Rod wrapper vs power wrapper

I'll put my two cents in here and say that as a beginner, you should not be thinking about a power wrapper. I think it's important to learn good hand wrapping techniques first. If all you build are freshwater rods and/or fly rods, you may never need a power wrapper. A power wrapper is nice to have for long underwraps on saltwater rods, which would be monotonous (but not impossible) to wrap by hand.
That being said, a power wrapper can be handy to have for reasons other than wrapping. It can usually function as a dryer (rotating the rod a low RPM while your winding finish sets up). You can also turn cork grips on some power wrappers. It's not a bad thing to have, but definitely not any kind of necessity. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
