Question about marbleizing

I know you can use Testors model paint for this, but which ones? The acrylic or the enamel?

Thanks for any info.

The enamel works best but only use the pigment settled at the bottom. Acrylics work somewhat but they can make the mixture rather stringy and thick and just don't work as well as enamel.

Like Ron said, you want to let it settle and pour off the solvents. The metallics are really nice!

For goodness sake don't even think about using acrylics. If you do prepare for a mess!

My customers just rave over marbelizing I have done on some drop shot crappie rods I have done for them. I wish I could have been at the show this year and went to the seminar. I thought I read that Randy Puter, I think, is putting out a DVD on marbelizing. Mr. Barkley is right, I tried the metalic today and it really looks sweet. I would like to try and marbelize a reel seat. I guess you could do that.

Joh,

I've done reel seats. They look pretty cool. I usually mask off the area that the reel foot sits in.

Thanks for the info. I saw some photos of marbled flames and thought they looked awesome. I'm going to try it out on a couple of fighting rods I'm building for this season.
