Re-Wrapping a custom 9-foot 7wt 3-pc Bamboo. Customer wants strip guide and next guide to be Fuji BNLG12 and BNLG10 (no problem here) and the remaining (6) Fuji H&H snakes to be changed to Fuji BLG's with a BMLT top (problem here). I am not sure how to make the conversion. Is there a "chart or set up" for such as this. If this qualifies as a dumb question then ban me from future queries for 12 months and may I only receive RodMaker issues during this period that have been folded, mutilated, and spindled by the mailman. Know I am out of my element here but any advice as how to approach this is greatly appreciated as always.

The #8 BLG is pretty close to a #3 snake, a #6 BLG is pretty close to a # 1 snake. Re: Help on conversion from snake to fuji BLG's

Ron, I think Spencer's response has shown that yours was not a stupid question, and relieved you from your self-pronounced (and overly harsh) consequence. "Be careful what you ask for, ... you just might get it!" ... -Cliff Hall+++ Re: Help on conversion from snake to fuji BLG's

I would work back from the BMLT tip top that has a 5.5, 6, or 7 mm ring. The guides leading into it should be the same mm, and the same on the other end of the BNLG to BLG transition. The BLG guides run from 5.5 to 10 mm. I like a BMLT-6mm ring myself. So you need 6 guides, You could start with a BLG-10 as it wil sit lower then the BNLG-10 with the same mm ring but its height may help, then use one BLG-8, one BLG-7 and three BLG-6 to the top. I would not worry about comparing snake guide sizes to that of BLG guides, just go about making a natural transition. When the guide get as small as a 5.5mm ring you can run into trouble as your nail / albright / Duncan loop / or uni- knots are too big to pass through, or hang up excessively as there is so much knot to arched ring engagement. I would instead worry about how the blank will look if blemished from the double feet of a snake guide and you now can only cover one foot fault with the single foot BLG's Re: Help on conversion from snake to fuji BLG's

Thanks Chris
Makes sense I can understand. Will approach your way. Also since you brought it up, I asked customer about the single foot transition and gave him some options. He said to go with a longer wrap with the foot stem moved forward to cover the change. Is there any negative in doing it this way. Again I appreciate your advice.
