Concept: Height off the rod......

A bit of confusion here.
For spinning rods, Fuji makes some guides that has small rings but extra tall feet to 'get the line off the rod'. And then their concept guide system use small final guides that are very close to the rod. Question: Does it or does it not matter when the final guide rings are smack dab right up against the blank? Does the line actually rub against the blank when the rings are right up against the blank? Asking as we've been using fly guides as our final guides and those have virtually no height at all. Thanks! Mo Re: Concept: Height off the rod......

When you're fishing, they aren't ever against the blank. Gravity takes care of that. They work on top the blank on casting rods, so on the bottom is a piece of cake. Re: Concept: Height off the rod......

Small guides on the tip area are better because the weigh much less. The line won't rub the blank for the reason that Spencer mentioned. The higher frames are for the butt area mostly. Then you move down to the small and low frame guides as you get near the tip. Read the article in the rodbuiding.org library about this. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
