1st decal

friend of mine owns a flyshop I had him order me some stuff from merrick tackle
one of the items was a steelhead decal came with no instructions I dont believe its a waterslide want to place it over a simple butt wrap can i apply the decal to the threads after a light coat of epoxy then after it dries add another coat of epoxy over the decal?I think I read in another post to cut the outline of the decal out with scissors apply the decal then remove the outter skin? thanx steve Re: 1st decal

I use Merrick's stick on fish decals.
Yes, cut around the perimeter of the outline of the fish removing as much excess film as possible. Yes, do apply over a coat of freshly cured finish. On other thing that I do, lay a piece of paper over the decal and burnish the decal to ensure it's nice and flat, and adhered to the blank. After this step I apply a coat of color preserver, let dry, the apply finish. The reason for the cp is that finish sometimes attacks the decal adhesive and will lift the decal osme.
