Bumper guide spacing

Just set up the guides on a new blank to me, it's a Rogue SW 904. One very powerful blank for it's line rating.
Anyway I set up my guides as usual and this blank has a spacing of 16 inches between the stripper and the next guide. One very stiff butt. I looked in the bumper guide article, it says nothing about my concerns, but I seem to remember being recommended not to exceed 11 inches in a post for a bumper wrap. Spencer Re: Bumper guide spacing

That's a long way between the first two guides. I'd close it up a bit - add one more guide to the overall spacing, if it were me.

I would also add,
The bumper guide is not part of your regular spacing. Do not add it until final spacing is achieved Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Bumper guide spacing

I built a 7" one piece Halibut rod on a blank that was very fast. The butt was very stiff and my 1st 2 guides ended up 14" apart. I put the bumper at 7" and the rod works great.
