I like the one peice rods for catfishing. St. Croix has some E-Glass blanks that are great and not to pricey. They are satin black and have great back bone and a fairly soft tip for casting bait. Lenghts are 7, 8 and 9'. I order mine through Karen at Bingham.

Two catalogs that come to mind are Mudhole and Cabela's Tacklecraft. Mudhole is probaly one of the biggest rodbuilding suppliers and has a very complete catalog in which they list some reasonably priced rod building kits that could be a handy learning tool for a beginning rod builder. I mention Cabela's not because they stock a large line of components but because they also list a variety of kits.

Andy Blake - Check out the Batson FORECAST Rod Blanks in the SWB-8'0"-xx Series. These SWB-Blanks are "E" Glass rods that are great performers at a bargain price (~$35 for the 8-Footers). ... The SWB-7'6"-xx Models are ~$25-30. And the SWB-7'0"-xx are ~$25. All the Forecast SWB-E-Glass Rod Blanks are Gloss Black, and have a 2-year Limited Warranty.

Go to the website for FS4U [www.fishsticks4u.com] and see for yourself. ... Call Robert Tignor (804) 746-9711 if you have any further questions about rod blanks or components.

FORECAST E-Glass SWB-Series [www.fishsticks4u.com] Probably the SWB-8'0"-xx in the MH / H / XH power is what you want. You don't say much about line-lure specifics, or how you fish, but this should get you in the ballpark, and set you in the right direction.

Batson can cover everything for such rod projects. You'll be able to build at least 3 Batson rods for every 2 rods of any other configuration of brands at the prices that Batson & Robert can offer. ... Good Luck, -Cliff Hall+++, Gainesville, FL-USA*****
