DVD's?

I just received a Cabela's Tackle Craft Catalog and noticed they have a few DVD's on rod building. Does anyone have an opinion on any of these or any other DVD's on the market? I already have Tom's book to get me started but I like seeing things happen instead of reading them.

Thanks.
Tony

I would recommend Ken Preston's or Doc Ski's DVD's (both available from Mudhole and probably other sponsors on the left) Artie Hebert's tapes are pretty good also, although older, they are very helpful and well done. There are others but I'm familiar with these and would recommend them.

Hello Tony,
I am building a library on rod building (for the grandkids to use) and find that there are several good DVD's out there. From the simple one by Roger of Flexcoat, Ken Preston's DVD's are great, Artie Herbert has a few out that are very useful. I find that even though I have been building rods for a while I learn something from each one. The most important thing is that when you learn several ways to do the same thing, you may find some usefulness from each technique. One of the most useful DVD's I have used is Andy Dear's on wood lathes. These DVD's are available from several of the vendors on the left of this site. Good luck.

Tony new idea. Check the directory at the top of this page and see if you can locate a builder within a reasonable distance. Contact him and tell him you would like to set up a visit. Most builders will do all they can to help you get started and you will make a friend for life. This one on one will save you a whale of a lot of time and watching someone work will increase you learning curve very fast.

Bill,
I've already go something set up the first weekend in April to build my first rod with several experienced builders but I'm just trying to learn what I can before I go.

Thanks,
Tony
