Common Cents Rod Lenght

I have read all articles in Rodmaker referenceing the "Common Cents" rod rateing system. I rate every rod that I build & any others that I get the chance. I always support the rod handle the same & calculate the deflection baised on overall total rod lenght. Examp. 9 ft 0 in fly rod deflection equals 36 in.
I am intrested in shareing data with other rod builders & that brings up a question on standeration.
Is rod lenght always total lenght? Is fighting butt included in total lenght? What if the fighting butt is removeable? I have heard that some builders measure from the reel seat. How does handle lenght & design figure in rod lenght?
Do we all need to address theese issues the same for a true comparision.

The system specifies that you use the total blank length. You can use other lengths/portions, but then your data will not be relative to other CCS data. The important thing is to have a constant - something that is consistent across the board.

Do we need to address these issues for a true comparison? I don't think so - the instructions spell out pretty clearly to use total blank length. Those who don't aren't taking CCS measurements, they're taking something else (which is certainly fine, but those measurements won't be relative to CCS measurements).
