I am building 2 50-100lb class stand up rods. I like the use of spiral wraps. Does anyone have suggestions for types of guides?

On the simple spiral, I usually start with an LRSG, use an NSG for the bumper, then the heavier type NSG for the remainder of the guides. You could use LRSG's here too, on the heavier rod types like you mention.

I've built many using all LRSG guides and they work just fine

My preference is Fuji LBSG single foot heavy duty boat guides. They are what I use on all my tuna rods.

Cliff... The LBSG guides referenced are indeed Fuji HD single-footed SIC guides. Cut & paste the following web location to view Mudholes ad for them.

Well Tom beat me too it. Thank you Tom. - Yes Cliff those guides [FUJI's LBSG Single-Foot, 3-Leg SIC-ring FLY guide] stand up to 35# of drag. In fact I'm building another rod with them that will be used with 100# test, 33# of drag at strike and about 45# at full. It will be interesting to see what happens if I get lucky enough to hook into something that can still take drag when I'm at full! -DAVE BARRETT

Thanks, Dave for your testimonial.
(I knew you'd be around soon.) -Cliff Hall+++

P.S. - This same FRAME-STYLE Heavy-Duty FLY Guide is available in a FUJI HARDLOY RING - The "BLBLG", 16mm-8mm HARDLOY-Ring, Single-foot, Tri-Leg, Black Finish, Stainless-Steel Frame Guides. See the hard-copy of the Mud-Hole 2006 Catalog, on page 69. ... –Cliff+++
