Painting & sealing a graphite reelseat.

I saw this once before but can't find the past thread now. I want to paint the larger portion of a Fuji NPS reelseat a gloss or semi-gloss black paint. I assume I can use something like Testor's model paint but should I use multiple thin coats or one thicker coat? I'm afraid with thin coats it will come out a bit dull if it isn't allowed to "wet out" the surface.

And what would I use to seal the painted surface - Permagloss? How would I apply it to keep a "wet edge"? Would holding the seat vertical and start brushing around and down at the same time work? I'm afraid of getting drags marks as the coating starts to set up - I don't recall how much work time I have with Permagloss since I only used it once. Thanks.

The only seats I've painted have been done with a powder coating process (RodMaker article coming in the next issue or two). I'm not exactly sure how to do this with standard paint like testors. I'd suspect that Permagloss is going to be tough to apply over an enamel.
