First Butt Wrap questions

All,

I'm trying out my first butt wrap this week and I need some advice. Because the blank is black, and I want the wrap( a diamondwrap) to stand out a little better, I'm going to paint the blank white under the wrap. What kind of paint do I use, and do I have to use some sort of fixative so the epoxy coat over the wrap doesn't harm the white undercoat. Or can I just add some white pigment to LS Supreme?
Suggestions?

Hi,
As an alternative you could do a white underwrap.

I agree with David.....just underwrap with white NCP. If you paint it , then do a nice butt wrap, then have some sort of problem with the paint after you apply the epoxy, you'll be starting all over again.

If you paint it - use a white " Laquer "

I agree with the underwrap theory. Just be sure to size down on underwrap thread. ie: "A" thread for underwrap, "C" or "D" thread for diamond wrap otherwise diamond wrap will cause underwrap to spread.

William, a butt underwrap of Sulky metallic silver thread works pretty well on dark blanks with light threads on the butt wraps, and is an option to painting the blank . I like to put a coat of CP on the metallic silver thread prior to wrapping - helps for making the surface easier to "mark" as well as keeping the metallic thread in place. I also use CP on most all wraps. Hope this helps. Stan
