Any opinions on these? I've only seen photos and am wondering how this product compares to regular cork and/or burl cork. Thanks. Re: Bamboo Burl Cork Grips

I use these a lot on some of my rods for entry level buyers who want to keep spending down for a good first rod since they are a little different in look and the price is right (I bought 15 for $5.00 a piece). Never had a problem with them and they do not feel any different than cork that I glue and shape. They do tend to break easily when reaming. IMO they do not do anything to enhance a truley custom rod but non-the-less they look good and are different.. Re: Bamboo Burl Cork Grips

I have found the bamboo burl cork grips to be a very good alternative to standard cork grips. They are lighter (bamboo burl, not cork burl), cheaper, and look great when a finish is applied. I have used Tru-Oil with excellent results. (I had some prospective customers looking at different rods yesterday. When they saw the bamboo burl grips, they "flipped" and insisted on having them on their rods.) Their only drawback is that they are more fragile than cork, so you have to gently when reaming -- no torquing or bending. Once they're on the rod, they are durable.

for those who may be unfamiliar with these cork grips, they are offered by Pacific Bay and do not come as rings, yet.
