Hey Guys!! I have built a few rods in the year since I started , I always use Xtra Select Rings, I have noticed a "SPANISH CORK" that is a lot cheaper that what I use, in your opnion is it better to stay with what I have been using or use the Spanish Cork
Thanks again Richard Re: "CORK RINGS"

The only way to tell I think is to get some, turn a handle or two, then compare with your existing supply. See for yourself if it is better or just as good or not. Re: "CORK RINGS"

The Spanish Cork always seem to require a lot of fill. I have even got some that I ended up using as arbors because they were so bad. Esp. stay away from the cork on @#$%&. Anyway that has been my experience. Big John Rio Hondo, Texas Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting Re: "CORK RINGS"

There is not standard for "Extra Select Rings." So I'm not sure what quality you're currently using. Anything could be called "Extra Select" and it would be correct.
Most cork comes from Portugal with some coming from Spain. It also runs the gamut in terms of quality. The moniker "Spanish Cork" does not indicate the quality of the cork any more than "Extra Select" does. I'm sure some of it is very bad while some of it may be quite good. Ask the seller how it rates on the Rodmaker Cork Grade Scale. That way you'll know for sure what you're getting. ............ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
