Spiral Wrap Idea - Will this work??

I was thinking about converting an AllStar Titanium 845MC-3 that I wrapped for baitcasting over to a spiral wrap. The good thing about a 3pc is that I can just turn the tip section to the bottom. There are no guides on the but section, so here is my idea for the middle section which is where the first two guides are. Can I put the first guide (BLNAG16) at about 1:00, the second guide (BLAG10) at about 5:00 and eliminate the need for a bumper guide? In other words, I would only have to move (re-wrap) the BLAG10 which is the second guide and could accomplish everything else simply by rotating the way I join the sections. Any drawbacks I'm missing?

I think the better plan would be to leave one on the 0 axis and move that second one to the 180 axis and then put a bumper guide inbetween.

Not that you can't do it the way you mention, but you'd better string it up first and see how it looks and what sort of line path you have there.

How will a size 6 or 7 BLAG work for the bumper? Too small? I ask because I happen to have a spare and it seems it would sit really close to the blank.

The 7 will probably be fine.

Your idea should work fine. That is more or less how I have my 80# standup tuna rod set up. However, I use a conventional reel (modified Penn Int 20) so I have to level the line with my thumb no matter what the rod is. If you are planning on using a level-wind reel you may be better off following Tom's suggestion as some level-wind reel behave poorly if the line is fed in from an angle.

If you turn all the sections over, you still will only have to re-wrap the butt guide. Add the #7 bumper & go fishing! Good idea you have there. best of luck.
