Repair Success, thanks Tom, Ralph and the Library page

Just wanted to thank Tom K. and Raplh O'Quinn for the wonderfull article on Rod Repair in the library. I had a buddy of mine break a St.Croix PC60MF about 14" from the tip. I was able to install a sleeve from an old rod following Raplph's directions. Last night everything was finally dry and ready for the test. I flexed the rod a few times and it held together, so I put on a reel and tied on a lure at the top of the rods rating and headed outside. The rod worked great, held together, doesnt feel any different from my own un-repaired PC60MF, and seems to be ready to fish. So, thanks again...just wanted to share that success. Now I am motivated enough to try it with an old flipping stick I broke, we'll see how it goes.

Glad it helped. And for anyone interested, Ralpy will giving a live seminar on rod repair at the National Rod Builders Show in a couple weeks.

Broken rods can be repaired nearly good as new. But you have to know how to do it if you expect them to hold up and retain pretty much same feel as before.

Scott, I agree with you that that is one of the most useful articles I have ever read on any subject. I've used several of the repair methods Ralph details in the article, all with great success. He really knows what he's talking about and did a great job explaining it to readers. Overall, it was much more useful, for example, than an article I read on how to become a millionaire in 1 year with real estate, LOL.

SK, you wouldn't know how to act with a million dollars. You'd finally be able to keep all of the neat rods you build because you'd be able to afford all the components for new ones! LOL!!

Putter, that's true, although I might not build anymore either. Being a millionaire would mean fishing all day and fishing all day could cure my restlessness, which is the main reason I build rods. Some people bite their nails.
