Mother of Pearl Fly Seats

I am considering using some Mother of Pearl fly seats on rods for my nieces. I am concerned about their durability. For those that have used them, a quick question:

Now that these fly seats have been out for a year or so, how have the held up during normal usage? Are they as durable as a wood seat, or do they chip when knocked about?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I've seen them and handled them, but haven't put any rods. The ones I have made myself have held up remarkably well, if that's any help.

Ladd,
I have used one of these pearl fly reel seats and have had no problems with it. Great looking on a fly rod. I get alot of fisherman wanting to know were I got it. and then tell them I custom make fishing rods and then start getting orders.
