Fuji Power Oval SiCs

I've got a customer that is interested in using the Power Oval SiC guides on some IGFA 50 rods. I have never used these so I don't really know their dimensions. I obviously would be using the double footed guides and leaving off the single foots.

They only make two ring sizes in the double foots (10 & 8), but they make a 10H model. Does anyone know how tall the 10H is? I'm wondering if I could use a 10H, 10, 8, 8, 8 setup or just go with a 10, 8, 8, 8, 8 (guide numbers are approximate as I would usually use 5-6 guides on this type rod).

I'm also assuming the rings are sized across the ring not up & down it. An 8 ring is too small for offshore use...are these oval rings sized in the normal manner? If so, I'll suggest to him that we stick with the LRSGs in 20, 16, 12, 12, 12. The turbos were what we talked about origainally, but he asked about the Power Ovals and I said I'd try to find out.

We'll be using a Big Foot roller top so using a ring smaller than 12mm would basically negate the whole 'wind-on' setup. Would I be correct in assuming the Power Ovals are too small for this application? Thanks for any help provided.

Nice timing on THAT question, I have a set sitting here on my desk! Let me give you several measuerments off of BOTH #10's. I'm in kind of a rush here, so give me +/- a couple thousandths leeway here because I don't have my glasses! This should be close enough to answer your question though.

The WDBSG10FH is 1.236" (31.4mm) at the top of the frame, .852" (21.65mm) at the BOTTOM of the ring's opening and 1.086" (27.6mm) at the TOP of the ring's opening.

The WDBSG10F is .961" (24.4mm) at the top of the frame, .514" (13mm) at the BOTTOM of the ring's opening and .766" (19.5mm) at the TOP of the ring's opening.

You are correct that the ring size call-up is for the WIDTH of the ring, not it's length. We DO have Power Oval double foot's going down to 5.5mm. If you 'd like to give me the configuration you're considering, I'll be happy to get you the measurements when I get back to the shop this afternoon.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info Mark. I think I'm gonna stick with Turbos for this job as the customer will be using wind-on SPRO swivels. I just think the 8 rings will be too small and suceptible to fracture. Turbos in 12mm will probably suit us better (that's what I normally use anyway). Thanks a ton for your information. The height numbers will be useful for some future projects!
