Epoxy Setting

I was applying finish to a guide wrap as well as the trim bands for the cork tape handle. I currently use Aftcote finish, the finish on the trim bands has set up but the finish on the guide wrap is still tacky. In all my years I have never had this happen. The rod has now been sitting for three days, I checked this morning and the guide wrap has yet to set up. My next question is what to do ? Do I need to cut if off and start from scratch or what would happen if the guide wrap still being tacky had another coat of finish apllied. Would it ever set up ? I'm at a loss so thanks in advance for any help.

Ron

Most likely, the finish was not well mixed or your application tool picked up some unmixed finish from the side of your mixing container. I'd try applying another well measured and well mixed batch on top of what you have now. Just a thin application. All should then be well.

Thanks for the input Tom, I'll give that a try this evening.

Thanks,
Ron
