I just put together a nice JC feather inlay for a new rod I'm building. How do I secure the feathers to the rod befor coating to avoid air bubbles and movement?
Any help would be appreciated. Re: Feather inlays

I dip the feathers in the urethane with sharp tweezers and than put them on the rod where I want them. I try not to move the feather after I lay it on, for sure I don't want to move it against the direction the feather fiber run.. As the feather and urethane starts to set you can get more of the feather to lay down on the blank by lightly pressing on it where it sticks up. After it sets put on the finish or whatever. I use U-40 Color Lock 2 color preserver. Works great, sets fairly quickly and I have never had bubbles appear. The only downside with it is that it's opaque and difficult to see through it when you apply alot. Re: Feather inlays

Hi Walt... I am pretty sure that a DVD will soon be available from one of our sponsors made by Putter. Also you might get a glimpse of it at Charlotte if you are going there. As with all things the more sources of information the better we can do things. Re: Feather inlays

Mike,
I would love to see that tutorial also. Where can I find it? Tried a search and no luck finding that PDF file! Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/29/2006 11:52AM by Raymond_Adams. Re: Feather inlays
