I have a few graphite 2 piece rod blanks that haven't been plugged leaving the shaft open. I don't want to get moisture down them. What do you recommend that I use to plug them?
Thanks! Re: How to plug rod blank?

Some of the OEM manufacturers are using plain old black RTV silicone. Bill in WV Re: How to plug rod blank?

Anything you want! A pencil eraser works good! EVA, rubber plug, etc: Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: How to plug rod blank?

If you have some Rod Bond a little glob in the open end works or like Bill said silicone caulking works also, you can color it black with a Sharpie marker after it has dried. Re: How to plug rod blank?

Whatever you do, Moushka, keep your plug as small possible. You're only adding unwanted weight to your fishing rod.
I use RodBond, but I'm always sure to let it stiffen up a bit first. It you plug the opening when the RodBond is too fresh, it can actually suck down into the blank. You don't want that. Also you only want to plug the top of the butt piece. If the sections are open all the way through, leave them open. Josh Markvan www.markvanheirloom.com Re: How to plug rod blank?
