Powder Coat Machine

Recently I saw a powder coat machine on sale ( HARBORFREIGHT TOOLS) for $60 regular $100. I was wondering if anyone has bought one of these or other low priced powder coat systems and used it to coat reel seats etc? Just wondering if they do a good job and worth the investment. Thanks!

Rich,Havent used one but looked into for my other intrests.Dont know what type of seats you are interested in doing they must be baked at i think 150 degrees or so to complete the process. Also the thickness of the finish will lock up the threads.I`ve had other items PCed and had to run a tap through the threaed holes to get the bolts in and it was harder to tap than the actual metal.

There is an upcoming article in RodMaker on powder coating for rod builders. It's a great process, but requires some special know-how and procedures in order to give good results.

I can tell you that the machine Harbor Freight is selling is not likely to do what you want to do - we're not talking about a high quality piece of gear. At least not very well. And, powder coating requires more than just the power gun - certain surface prep procedures and subsequent "cooking" steps must be taken in order to get the hoped for results.
